Allu Arjun’s much-anticipated film Pushpa 2 has marked 44 days at the box office, maintaining a dominant presence despite stiff competition from several new releases. The film, which has been a consistent box-office performer, continues to outpace other films in terms of earnings, but its momentum has been slightly impacted by the arrival of two new releases this Friday.
According to Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 earned approximately Rs 1 crore on its 44th day, bringing its total domestic collection to a staggering Rs 1225.7 crore. This figure cements its place as one of the highest-grossing films of the year. The film's extended version, released to further capitalize on its popularity, has yet to show a significant impact on its earnings, as the original version had already achieved remarkable success.
However, the weekend’s box office results have shown unexpected competition. Kangana Ranaut’s political drama Emergency made an impressive Rs 2.35 crore on its opening day, despite not being released in Punjab, which could have affected its overall screen count and, consequently, its earnings. The film’s opening numbers are strong, but its long-term performance remains uncertain.
Another new release, Azaad, which marks the debut of Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgn, earned Rs 1.5 crore on its first day. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film’s initial reception has been modest, with its weekend numbers expected to provide further insight into its box office potential.
While Pushpa 2 continues to perform exceptionally well, the sudden surge of Emergency and Azaad has created a new dynamic at the box office. The coming days will reveal whether these new films can sustain their early momentum or if Pushpa 2 will reclaim its dominant position.
